Yes. recently added a stopover to 2× BKK-DOH-CPT 85K saver award and booked QR J ×2 DOH-LCA-DOH during the stopover. 30K AS miles (AA 85K miles) for a $2K return flight.

eponymous_coward points out, there should be zero issue booking a "paid" in miles J seat on AS. If you do book, the $25 p/p partner fee is preserved if you change. I would keep an eye out for a 70K DE award to FRA. About $150 will get you a FRA-OTP flight on LH. You can purchase AS/BA EUG-LAX-LHR-OTP in J at EOS for ~$3.5K. Most would agree that 255K AS miles is valued at more than that, but valuation is subjective.
