For me, I'd rather the FDA just tell me "Sir I'm sorry, but it's management's policy that we do not offer late checkouts" than to make something up about availability after pretending to check the computer. Maybe the latter is less confrontational, but at least I know the end result and where they stand on it so I'm not wasting my time.
