An hour before is absolutely fine. Security lines can be long at peak but with fast track won't be a problem.

It's passport control that can be a nightmare, so as you say non-Schengen flights are a completely different story. The problem is it's so highly variable. Sometimes you breeze through, sometimes massive queue. And there is no lounge post-passports.
