Post Is Cityflyer BA's worst kept secret? Trip Report from LCY-BCN - Video Only

Hi all,

I just released my latest flight review/trip report. This time I'm aboard British Airways CityFlyer from London City to Barcelona on the Embraer E190SR. CityFlyer often flies under the radar, but this route really showcased what they do best: smooth apron boarding, genuinely friendly crew, and a cabin that feels almost… private. I'm a big fan of flying from London City and consider it to be the best airport in the capital. It's really easy to get to, and (not that I advocate doing this) but you can rock up 30 minutes before and not even sweat it.

This is part of a wider trip report series with more on the way in the coming weeks including a journey with Air Europa and Iberia (both in business class). I booked this flight very last minute (just days before departure) and there was still good availability out of LCY through the BA Club reward booking portal. I opted to pay 5,250 Avios and £47.50, making the true cost of the flight around £152.50, which considering the price on BA's website was eye-wateringly high, made for a prudent saving!

The boarding process was super smooth, we actually boarded around 10 minutes ahead of schedule with BA enforcing the priority boarding by groups, which is good to see. I also managed to snag an empty seat next to me so had a row of two all to myself. The crew were very friendly and we departed on time (even in the middle of a thunderstorm). Everything does feel really slick out of LCY.

The service in Euro Traveller was promptly started by Cabin Crew member, James (what a solid name!), and unlike other BA flights, everything on CityFlyer is complimentary including alcohol. I opted for a Brewdog 'Speedbird OG' transatlantic IPA and a packet of ready salted crisps. Even though I'm not a big drinker, the row in front really did put this to the test, seeing how many gin and tonics they could get through in 90 minutes!!

🛫 Flight: LCY–BCN

✈️ Aircraft: E190SR (G-LCYV)

💺 Cabin: Euro Traveller

💷 Cost: 5,250 Avios + £47.50

📺 You can find the full YouTube review on my channel (I'll link to it here, just confirming this is my YouTube Channel and I'm the owner!):

Includes:

– Walkthrough of London City Airport, showcasing the terminal and what's on offer.

– A short history on the BA CityFlyer operation, including how it's diversified over the years.

– A full seat/cabin tour and the complimentary inflight service (which differs to the other BA short haul operation)

– Full take-off, landing & final thoughts (including departing and arriving into a thunderstorm!)

I would love to know your thoughts on CityFlyer or London City departures in general? I've yet to really hear a bad word said about departing from there - and I for one, can't fault it.

A big thanks if you've read or watched this far.
