Out of all places, we then got bussed to Runway 01R/19L which was going through pavement resurfacing and reinforcement. That day was the last day of 01R/19L closure. I know there are occisionally fundraiser events like runway 5Ks at JFK but just how often can someone stand in the middle of a runway in a major international airport...

And looking down the centerline? Maybe not so exilatring when I pilot but on foot? I was simply choked.



And I could look into the different runway equipments like the drainage and centerline lights all day without getting bored...
