Free seats at online checkin?
We will fly STR to HND end of August in Business. I managed to get free seat selection on the flights operated by LH, but not on ITA. I decided to risk run of the house for LIN - HND - HND - FRA and not pay for seat selection. Just FTL status.

Is it possible to check in online without choosing seats and have seats given to you for free?

Some sites say no free seats at any time, others say it is possible but you will not sit near your travel companion.

Appriate to hear recent experiences with online checking in and given a seat without paying is possible.
