I’m travelling tomorrow intra-Europe in Economy with my family including a 9-year old. I have LH-Senator and my wife is a Frequent Traveller. My first time flying ITA.

Was surprised to find that only I can select a seat for free and my family has to pay 24 euros per person - even after having checked in online.

I had booked a seat for myself in row 6 in the hope that the others would be placed near me. However they were assigned seats with one with me in row 6 and three in row 24. Obviously I can’t now even move myself back to row 24 as my kid would be alone in row 6.

It’s not a long flight so asking more for future reference but is there anything I could have done differently? I guess maybe not selecting seat and then going to the back of the plane all of us. And I’m assuming that I can’t do anything at check in either given that we have a flight into Rome on SK so they will do the check in. I’m not interested in paying anything given that the flight is short.

At least we were all given boarding group 1.
