I’m not sure I follow your use of “promot[ing]” here. For certain destinations, United.com will spit out CX / HX flights along with other options; no special searching or anything is required. It’s safe to say that UA considers this connecting traffic to be a contributing factor to the amount of HKG lift they schedule.
