This may be true but if the only seats remaining at T-7 days are middle seats, then in all likelihood the only seats remaining at T-24 hours will also only be middle seats.
But at least by checking at T-7 days one can view the seat map and see what the options/prices are.
If they're only selling middle seats a week out, no sense purchasing anything because those become free at check-in.
This has not been my experience (i.e. additional seats are often tossed into the pool in concert with OLCI opening).
