Sure… fine. Let’s stick to cars. There were almost 43,000 auto fatalities last year in the US. 13,500 were related to DUI.
Of the non-disease preventable deaths, pedestrian accidents account for only 2% in the US. This is probably why you don’t see US citizens “getting” the European point of view on this.
I brought up guns because as a left-leaning person, preventing harm to others “should” be up my alley. However, we can’t even get sensible gun laws that would have a much greater impact on mortality than slowing down cars might.
