These have a thinner grip area and seem particularly difficult to screw on again due to the angle of attachment.
My opinion is it's poor design and quality control. I have no problems on Spa as used by KLM and whatever they use on AF and also San Pelligrino which I was offered on KLM. I think tethers are more of a nuisance on rescrewing as you point out but again I think that's because they've scaled the bottle top rather than leaving it at 500ml size
