You need to ask because many passengers lack any ability to moderate their consumption. I am not a big champagne fan anyway, apart from Ruinart, so it doesn't bother me but champagne has always been a special drink rather than in the same league as a beer, wine or spirits. And I am not sure the champagne houses would be happy to see their bottles sat near to the lounge food offer of pie and mash.
