Speed cameras were tried here in Arizona a few years ago, but proved to be massively unpopular, especially since the main beneficiary of the fine revenue was not local government, but some company in Australia. So many of them were used as target practice that they were eventually all ripped out. But in Europe the attitude is, as you see by the responses, Befehl ist Befehl.
