Depending on the new time of arrival you may also be due quite a chunk of UK261 compensation for one or both of the flights. You get some compensation either on flights leaving earlier or arriving later.
BA would also normally do a BOS->JFK->LHR switch if pushed, there is usually F availability.
As fans of AA's offering between BOS-NYC will know, the schedules lurch around violently. Whilst there are now slightly more BOS-JFK services than, say this time last year, there are still only 4 flights a day. Following the demise of the B6 tie-up, AA now offer 6 BOS-LGA flights (weekdays). I think I'd prefer the LH First option if the timings worked.
