Actually that only occurs for a narrow case of discount premium cabin fares. Overall I think many find especially on economy fares or more expensive premium cabin, lower earnings.
It is very hard to develop a fully equitable system in strange world of airline pricing.
1. lets do a simple YYZ-Berlin fare in Business class in the summer. If the fare is $2000us we get 1600pqps, and with Air Canada we get 2450pqps
2. yyz-CAI same with UA you get 1600PQP and AC you get 3000PQPs Business class P fare
3. yyz-yvr-nrt with UA you get $2200 fare 1800PQPS and AC you get 4060 Business Class P fare
4. LAS-SFO-MNL with UA you get $2900 fare 2600PQPs and AC you would have got LAS-YVR-MNL 3600PQPs
Premium Economy fares on UA earn earning are much worse.
So i guess if you way overpay for an expensive flight with UA, you get more PQPs, I get that, but
So on Japan flight to get the same PQPs on United you would pay $4800 to get the same # of PQPs?
ALSO on the Japan flight AC fare "capped out" at 1500PQPs as a maximum for long haul flights.
Today their is a FARE DEAL from SOF-New Plymouth right now, on premium fare deals its $2600us and i got 6400PQPs if that had been United metal it would have got 2000PQPs
