Stay report

Hi,

Stayed here for 4 nights at the end of golden week between Yokohama and Kyoto). This was my first visit to Nagoya
Access from Nagoya station is relatively straightforward through the closest exit at Fushimi Station was closed due to construction. Check in was quick and friendly. They asked about my departure time ( I asked for 1pm and was granted it with no issue). Saw several airline crew in the lobby area during my stay
First impressions was that it is an older hotel unlike the newest Hiltons ( Yokohama/Kyoto/Hiroshima/Nagasaki) and had some features like the Hilton Tokyo ( ie breakfast dining in In place 3-3 on the lobby floor and a hilton plaza shopping arcade in the basement like Hiltopia at Hilton Tokyo) though a lot less hectic ( little busier at weekends)
Photos of the rooms were as above. Rooms were in good condition and offered nice city views. Shades can be drawn across the window with a blackout shade able to be drawn. Got a small packet of crackers as a welcome gift
Bathroom was good though as it is an older hotel the wc was beside the vanity sink unlike newer hotels where the wc is in its own small room
Swimming pool and gym were on the 6th floor and were good and usually quiet . There was an outdoor tennis court also

The main breakfast in In place 3-3 was very good with a special fruit juice menu for diamond members. Was not crowded unlike some hiltons though it got busier at weekends
Executive lounge was very good with a good selection of afternoon tea options ( ie smoked salmon on soft pita bread which was nice
Evening selection was very good with a good number of options suitable for a light dinner. Some Options changed nightly unlike Hilton Yokohama and Hilton kyoto
Service was excellent with the Executive lounge team remembering me after my first visit and always calling me tbs-san when coming back
Saw a couple of managers walking around the breakfast area speaking to and taking an interest in guests and they gave me a couple of business cards which I was very impressed by ( and they remembered me if they saw me coming back through the lobby later in the day).
A few photos

WC and vanity sink in bathroom. Wet room with bath and shower to left

Bed and window. Nice desk on the left and was nice to sit by the window

City view at sunset

Some of the cold selection at Evening Happy hour in the executive lounge

Some of the hot selection at the executive lounge ( very good for lounge food)

Diamond special drink menu at breakfast

some afternoon tea snacks in the executive lounge. They also had some cakes ( ie a match swiss roll type cake which was good)

The Hilton Plaza in the basement of the hilton nagoya ( closes 8pm)

The outside entrance to the Hilton plaza on a damp evening

Some of the selection of evening snacks getting ready in the executive lounge. did like the donut eyes

Some of the late morning snacks ( pain au chocolat etc at 1030). Had gone to a nearby coin laundry ,put my clothes in and went back but my room was already being cleaned)

Outside view of the hotel

I have posted photos of Nagoya in my trip report ( 7 to 11 May ) here
6 weeks in Japan via Oslo and Helsinki ( JL F to Tokyo) - Page 2 - FlyerTalk Forums
but did like the Oasis 21 complex at night in Sakae

oasis 21 area ( you can go up on the roof until 9pm) in Sakae

and the SCMaglev and railway park ( c 20mins from Nagoya JR station and close to Legoland Japan) as well as Inuyama castle and garden

SCMaglev and Railway park main hall from 2nd floor walkway)

Whilst less visited than Tokyo and Kyoto , Nagoya was very interesting and was busy for my 4 nights here ( and would go back). Whilst a more dated hotel than the newer hiltons, my room was in good condition, the hotel had good facilities and the service was excellent
There are a couple of SLH hotels in Nagoya also the Tower Hotel Nagoya & Nagoya Kanko hotel espacio but these were at least double the price of the hilton
Regards

TBS
