Unfortunately, this is what happens when properties renovate with the primary goal of drawing more, larger events. It's what happened to the Camelback Inn, which basically lost its soul when they did a similar renovation (which also added a large events center).

The focus shifts from guest experience to drawing and serving large crowds, and the guest experience invariably is substantially diminished.
