As a misanthropic curmudgeon, I was concerned about the lack of personal space. Looks like I should start considering alternative forms of travel.
Less popular cruises (either destination or season) may the the way to go. As for season, deepest darkest gloomiest winter may be good for an European river cruise (thought the Advent period may temporarily make the cruises somewhat more popular). Cruises with few or even no stops are even better but harder to find for river cruises.
