Lifetime gold will be handy enough for the *A benefits. Looking at Qantas:
* Around 20 years of Gold for Lifetime Gold
* Around 50 years of Platinum for Lifetime Platinum

20 year equivalent of Gold is easy enough especially when at elite getting banked years.
