If my 16 year old shows up at the airport on their own, they could be denied boarding because of not having a "gate escort"? I asked AA gate agents at a different airport and they were unaware of this "gate escort" requirement. I don't know what to expect now but am concerned about my kid being stranded at the departure airport.
Did you purchase the (optional) UAM service for the 16-year-old passenger? If not, it's unclear (to me, at least) as to whether a gate escort is required.
