Talking on speakerphone in a public space is absolutely inconsiderate and motivates me to want public flogging returned as a form of punishment for things like this. I don’t even do this in the privacy of my own home. Speakerphone should only be used when requiring multiple people in a room to participate in the conversation.

That being said, I see no difference between quietly talking with a phone held up to one's ear and a call on earbuds. In fact, I find people tend to speak louder with earbuds in as their own voice is muffled and they cannot control their speaking volume.

Also, it suggests that everyone must to have earbuds. I do not even own a pair.
