This has been in the published terms since the beginning (2018): "Not valid on Saks Fifth Avenue Gift Cards, or purchases at Saks OFF 5TH Avenue stores or at saksoff5th.com." It appears that Saks does not have the technical capability to enforce this restriction. It could be that they are making a change to fix this, but if it were straightforward I don't think it would have taken seven years.
exactly. we def knew saks GC was "not allowed" just like amex air credits, but luckily auto credits still pushed thru without clawbacks.
given how long its been going on and only $100/yr, it seems amex doesnt place this at high priority vs things like simon GC. im sure the tech is there. but maybe saks didnt wanna pay. same w/ amex plat biz HH $50. its clear they shut it down.
i actually thought amex was gonna totally cut after i saw DPs like this. not sure how to interpret that but given the new plat refresh, i assume they are addressing it now.

the ladies always hate it when i come in and they specifically mentioned it wont be allowed anymore and amex is "changing their policies".
as u know, agents are always confused. and the T&Cs have always existed. so u have to translate what they say. but this tells me they heard something is coming up and were eager to let me know about it cuz they wanted to ban the behavior.

(after i got my July GC, i then went across the street on July 4 and used the GCs at Saks Off 5th and got 4 shirts on sale for $95 total and paid with the Saks GC)
really? well good for you. maybe u look the part. or maybe building rapport w/ the makeup girls is the play. they always look busy so i never ask them. i know almost anyone at saks can do GCs, but makeup girls always seem busy.
honestly, that store is a ghost town. nobody is ever there. and no employees. they always look disgruntled to help me but they werent doing anything anyway.
they have said "oh, youre a gamer too huh?" which means they are tired of doing this for the entire population of SCAL.

It worked fine -one of the cashiers did inquire about the Platinum benefit, asked who they were for (I just said they were gifts), etc. No ID or anything necessary. I will use the $150 in cards, along with the remaining $50 credit, to buy some cologne (of course I will probably go above $200 - I love Creed Aventus and other Creed scents). As long as you can get someone to process the transaction, the easiest way to do this remains in store.
u can do 1 GC and split payment.

i do max 4x loads on a $200 GC. anything over that is too much IMHO given staff lack of patience. u will burn the location and stores dont exist. but doing just 1 x $50 GC is way too slow.
but its good to keep in mind not to look like a scammer fraud gamer guy by going in w/ tons of amex plats. pple in this game are really delusional. similar to the MS entitlement "im not doing anything illegal."
trying to split payment $10 amex gold is too much unless the waitress has a wireless card reader. also, bringing a stack of $50 HH GC to front desk for processing is also too much and brings too much attn, esp if they gotta ask mgr to come out and call HH support etc.
what makes saks split payment simple is buying 1 GC and you control the payments via CC reader. u do all the work. staff dont need to do jack which is ideal vs dining or hotel.
