Official connection time of 62 minutes. Will be seated in E+ for more time for transiting. Is this too short? I'm also considering spending the night at DFW by arriving the previous day.
FWIW, it's not like I have better options, unless I opt for a two-hop flight. The alternative is on DL transiting via DTW, with a 65-minute connection.
On time, quite doable. SkyLink stations are roughly A15, A33, B11, B29, C10, C29, D17, D29, E8 and E31. They are actually accessed by escalators or elevators to either side by a gate or three. They are walkable in about 5-7 minutes from any gate, and have a pretty quick turn to connect you to any other terminal. When you get into the station (above the concourse), it will tell you the side that is the quickest route to the terminal you want. Jump on and ride it to the closest station in your departure terminal, it’s a maximum of 9 minutes to the furthest station and trains run every 2 minutes. A normal adult, walking at a normal pace, should be able to get between two extremes in about 21 minutes maximum from exiting the aircraft.
It is sometimes quicker to walk between A, B, C and D, but not worth it in this case since you are not familiar with the airport.
Honestly, with a morning flight, it’s a reasonable bet, especially if the aircraft is stopping at MSN overnight. The connection, on time, should be fine. One ticket, and you are protected, just in case.
