What is the difference in upgrade scenarios of all 3?
#1 will only clear if 2 upgrade seats are released at the same time. If only one seat is released, the system will skip over you to the next single request on the waitlist.
There is no difference in #2 and #3. When you call, you tell the agent that "separate is ok", they will set up the request such that if only one seat is released you will get it.
