It was a big advantage which I would really like to use it. With Flying Blue allowing Plats to only book one LP seat, I wanted to book one award in LP and one in J, knowing that me and my partner could still both use the chauffeur and LP Lounge and then dine together in LP.
I can't imagine that one could have ever invited anyone from any other class to dine with someone in La Première. And no, it's not at all a safety concern. Your partner didn't pay for LP so why should you expect that he/she would be allowed to eat LP meals, consume LP champagne, etc. The presence of any non-LP guest would inevitably annoy paying P pax and diminish the service they receive. As I paying P pax, I would immediately complain to the purser.

Platinums are no longer restricted to booking just one seat as long as F award inventory is available.
