If the pure O/D was there, it might be in the conversation but it’s likely not there. I also don't think South Africa makes sense for AC as there is limited potential for 6th Freedom traffic apart for geographic reasons. A lot of AC's 6th freedom traffic is people wanting to avoid the US for transit visa reasons. Geographically, South America and Asia to South Africa via Canada is the kind of detour only a passenger like me would seek out.

Secondly is cargo. Air Cargo represents 35% of the total value of traded goods, but only 1% of the volume. I’m not sure that the Venn diagram area of trade between Canada & South Africa falls into any significant Air Cargo traffic.
