Walking (or jogging/running) a few miles with one you picked up for $9.99 at the local supermarket, and something you bought because it will last you the next four years, at which point you can sell it, is the difference between "are you kidding me? Now the second wheel fell off and I'm three miles from the car?" and "going for a long walk? No problem."
Avoiding grauitous rudeness, the advice seems fine to me. Keep a cheapo vehicle for trips, and if there's travel-related loss/damage or breakdown (e.g. stroller-jogging round Bangkok

) buy a local cheapo. Alternatively, make sure your travel insurance specifically covers any damage to a high-end machine.
Honestly, I didn't know going on runs with baby in a stroller was a thing. Shows how out of touch I am.
