That's a bit of a nonsense advice. People don't buy expensive strollers because they want their baby to love them more, but because they're more useful, more comfortable for the baby, and more comfortable for yourself.
Walking (or jogging/running) a few miles with one you picked up for $9.99 at the local supermarket, and something you bought because it will last you the next four years, at which point you can sell it, is the difference between "are you kidding me? Now the second wheel fell off and I'm three miles from the car?" and "going for a long walk? No problem."
