it is interesting though, AC’s ULH routes (SIN, BKK, DEL, etc) seem to be doing well for them (my only measure here is when I check loads or plan a trip the flights seem to be reasonably busy) but I wonder how much of that is domestic vs connector traffic (and of course they are all different).
YVR-SIN/BKK are almost 2000nm shorter than YYZ-CPT, I don't think the range difference is trivial when you're pushing close to the maximum range, I think only the 77L can do this route reliably.

Canada has a much bigger Indian population than South African, 77L is likely better suited for more Indian destinations before CPT will ever be considered.
