Weird decision. I used to use it every single journey - tray off the conveyor, onto the repack table, get my phone, wallet and car keys back out of my bag and put my belt on.

That way, my tray doesn’t move down a conveyor as I’m re-arranging my things and I’m not in anyone’s way.

I wish I could consistently make such poor decisions and still keep my job.
