Quick Virgin Atlantic bit of news - at the big media event in London tonight, it was made clear that 'old style' status earning (ie not revenue based) is sticking around and they see it as a differentiator.
Virgin is also going to introduce a new level of status for people who fly little but often, eg once a year holidaymakers, although it wasn't clear what that would mean. I suspect it will be along the lines of 'take one return VS flight each year for 5 years and get x'.
