That article is as bad as I’ve read. Both pilot groups are ALPA. So negations on seniority, seat, jet will be as fair as possible. Both MEC’s will fight for their group, but at the end of the day it’ll be ALPA management that aligns them on one list. Off the muscle? I doubt if anyone loses a seat or jet right away. They’ll fence off jets for a period of time, my guess 2 years. This means HA drivers stay where they are, as do AS drivers. It gives pilots stability during the early years of SOC, and keeps the airline from having a training free for all. After the fence is removed seniority will rule. As seats open up, dudes can swap equipment. But there won’t be a mass reshuffle. And the new single seniority list will do exactly what the HA/AS pre merger list did; Seat, jet, lines of flying and Base open to everyone based on hire date. Every merger is pretty much handled the same way. Some will be happy on how the list and fence are completed. Most will hate it as seniority for drivers is what controls your pay. You might be bound by a contract. But if a pilot is senior enough to bid and hold CA on a WB, that’s more hourly dough than if they were still sitting on the left in a NB. Stupid article. Stupid writer. At the end of the day, no furloughs, I guarantee they’ll get industry leading hourly pay and over time, most will get the seat, jet, base or line they want.
