I’m not so sure it is that simple, but someone more knowledgable can correct me if I am wrong.
The engines on the -9 vs -10 have different thrust output so that may mean a slightly different design. Perhaps the version of the engine for the -9 is unable to produce the required higher thrust to go on the wing of a -10?
