I agree with the OP. Driving in the UK sucks, there is so much opportunity to get caught in a camera trap that it was a constant source of stress.

There is no pleasure in driving in the UK.

The level of nannying and risk aversion means simple tasks become a chore.

I feel for the OP but, he should accept paying it as a hazard of driving in the UK. I'd also avoid Europcar as a rental agent, they tried to screw me out of £400 and it needed the intervention of the ombudsman to get them to see reason.
