I have to agree with this. I've had silver but have been gold for awhile. Never been platinum. But for both my spouse (also gold) and myself, gold brings all kinds of benefits not necessarily on Qatar. Living in the US and flying out of Miami on AA we use the flagship lounge 10-12 times a year and admirals clubs where available elsewhere. We fly economy domestically and as such and have not selected any seat other than main cabin extra since before Covid (and sometimes those seats are actually PE). Add seat selection on international flights and lounges abroad and it seems a lot better than silver. Don't know what I'm not missing by not having platinum. I've only had to use my priority pass about once each year. I actually work to get gold/sapphire and find it worth it.
