Ha! I have a good friend who is Irish, married a Brit (when to do so was quite controversial) and raised his family mostly in the UK and the US. As a family they debate which is better, Irish chocolate or British chocolate. American chocolate never enters the discussion.
(That having been said, I suspect we can get high quality chocolate in the US nowadays from chocolatiers, obvious avoiding Hersheys, Nestles, and all of the US versions of European brands, which clearly carry the same name but not the same quality,)
