It all depends on the equipment. If it's a NB, then I'd say the difference is negligible. If it's a WB then in J the difference is huge.
You don't say where you are flying from, but personally unless it's a WB I don't even bother trying to UG as on that length of flight (<3 hrs) I find an exit row in Y just fine thanks. I booked 2 of those yesterday from TPA - YYZ for $129 CAD each so I'll suck it up in the back.
