It seems like it has to come from your account:
The award flight discount will be deposited into your MileagePlus account within 6 to 8 weeks after meeting the spend requirement.
Follow these steps to use your 10,000-mile award flight discount:
1. Visit united.com or use the United app.
2. In checkout, select "Apply 10k-mile award flight discount" under the "Cardmember exclusive benefit" section to use the available credit for your trip. If there’s more than one traveler or multiple flights in your trip, use the dropdowns to select which traveler and flight segment you want to use your discount for.
3. Complete your booking. The total mileage price of your trip will be reduced by 10,000 miles.
