You can claim UK261 compensation for all passengers (£220 per passenger) plus duty of care, i.e. reimbursement of hotel and food/beverages. I'd recommend about £250-350/night in London and food about £30 per person (breakfast, lunch, dinner; avoid alcoholic drinks). Always got it reimbursed although had to always escalate to the CEDR. Claim only once you are in Krakow, at https://www.britishairways.com/trave...c/en_gb/select. Please make sure you get and keep receipts from the hotel and restaurants. Here's some wording to help you (and attach (1) confirmation of booking, (2) communication of cancellation, (3) and receipts from hotel and restaurant):

To whom it may concern. Myself and [X] other passengers were booked (booking code/PNR: [XXX]) on LHR-KRK, flight BA[XXX] on July [X], 2025 which was cancelled on the same day of departure due to a mechanical issue. As a result, we were automatically rebooked on BA[XXX] on July [X], 2025, 2 days after the original flight. As a result, I am claiming:
  • £220 per passenger as required by UK261,
  • £[X] for accommodation (averaging at £[X] per person per night),
  • £[X] for food and beverages over 2 days,
  • £[X] for unforeseen transportation needs, taxi from the airport on cancellation day, and taxi to the airport on the rebooked day
Total: £[X]

Failure to pay this amount within 8 weeks, the complaint will be escalated to the CEDR.
If you fail to receive a refund after 8 weeks, you can escalate to the CEDR at: https://www.cedr.com/consumer/aviati...e-a-complaint/. Usually BA then pays you after a couple of weeks, since CEDR is binding to the courts of England.

I personally find BA to be the worst company in the world (not even just airline) when it comes to complaints resolution, so good luck.
