It was suspected on the forum back along that any centralised notification system is quite limited, and where any notifications do get sent out is based upon the capabilities of the Qatar team responsible for your point or country of origin to generate them.

It does seem odd - Qatar have invested in modern event driven systems to credit QPoints as you board (so you can use them in Duty Free in Doha) but are unable to crank the handle to send out a few emails or SMS to ensure you get your flight in the first place.
