Another observation. The $$ price Chase was showing was 12% higher than FHR, Citi 4NF and Marriott.com, but the 2x points boost plus breakfast made it still worth it to book that way this time (getting about 1.78 cents per point instead of 2 if you use the non-Chase price). I can see how Marriott reports the Chase booked rate vs. what Chase says, and how Chase is marking up the room rate Marriott is charging (but keeping the taxes identical).

Chase shows $4642 for room + $737 in taxes.


Once I booked that and linked the reservation to my loyalty account and then clicked on the "upcoming reservations", it shows $4104 for room + $737 in taxes. So Chase is adding about 13% to the base room rate (not Marriott).
Which, oddly, is beneficial from a Bonvoy points accrual perspective, no?
