I was gonna go to AAA this week for the IDP for my car rental a week from now in Jpn, but unfortunately I just found out AAA just closed all offices in the state where I live. Takes 5 business day turnaround for IDP request online, so that won't work for my situation.
Guys, be aware of this. I anticipate that AAA will be closing physical presence/service in more and more states. Keep an eye on similar development in your state if you live in USA. And don't wait to get the IDP until the last minute. There's no reason to, because AAA can back-date the effective start date of the IDP's 1-year effective period to whatever date you tell them.
