On my most recent flight, I was told that since I didn't preorder the options were chicken main or chicken on the side. The pasta was missing in action.
I would not except anything thta does not show on the pre-order and this year I have always pre-order, so I can not address your question. Miscartering happens, so never extrapolate from a single incident.
