Yes, as @mia noted, you get Avis Preferred with your Amex Platinum card. Avis Preferred has been very beneficial to us, allowing us to skip the lines and just go to our vehicle, which depending on how busy things are has saved us considerable amounts of time (I'm talking about being able to skip dozens of people in line with only 1 or 2 desk agents checking people in). That said, if you're looking for the best deal financially, I'd also make sure that you shop around with the competition. We saved over $80 on a two day rental for our upcoming inter-island trip to Maui next week by booking with Hertz instead of Avis. This is for the same vehicle class. Avis simply had way more outlandish mandatory fees than Hertz did with this booking.
