Like any good system it's meaningless if gate agents don't control the process. Yesterday at BOS the GA was having none of the foolery. Bunch of morons standing in the priority lane blocking passengers deplaning from a late arriving flight and GA physically came to the boarding lanes and told them all to have a seat and they would not be boarding with PreBoards or CKs.
On a couple of recent flights for which we were waiting for an inbound aircraft, the GA made an announcement telling people to clear the area to allow people to deplane. Not the same as the physical interaction, but still much appreciated.
