The Ritz-Carlton Xi’an was a nice experience that I found comfortable in a city that I’m really enjoying. Technically, it was cheaper than the W, too ;-) - here are my impressions and photos:
Note: I booked a breakfast-inclusive rate.
Pros:
- Upgraded to a 1 Bedroom Suite, which was large and as described
- The design is pleasant with lots of light colors
- Bed was quite comfortable - medium slightly plush mattress, really plush covers for China, plush pillows - I slept quite well
- Shower pressure (I used the wand) was good
- Staff was uniformly friendly
- Offered late checkout proactively - no issue with requested 3 PM
- They had me up to the club lounge to wait for my suite to be ready - was offered good Nespresso coffee (but not given afternoon tea plated desserts - though, I also didn’t ask) - I did not attempt to visit the lounge at any other time
- Breakfast was good and met my expectations - good omelet and hashbrowns, good pancakes and egg tarts, they could improve from machine coffee (but it was fine)
- Comfortable living room couch
- On top of Line 6 Metro station (you do have to go outside, though)
- Good effective washlet
Cons:
- Some slight temperature instability in the shower, but this only happened a few times
I would come back.
