I was given seats 18H for the outbound and 18C for the return.Obviously the seat configurations are different for PE on the different aircraft. Wanting to make sure I had an aisle seat for both legs I called JAL to confirm my seats and was told that I would now need to pick seats again only this time I would need to pay $100 per flight. The reasoning behind this was JAL only allows you one seat choice and even I had nothing to do with the change of planes I would have to pay if I wanted to select seats on the A350. Any comment or thoughts about this? Do I have any recourse as to the charges.?
It was known here in the community it would change (had already changed in fact, but JAL doesn't load the schedule so far in advance) - but not exactly "common knowledge" so reasonably I think you have a grievance here. Did you explain to the rep that when you booked and chose your seat, the craft was a different one that JAL has now changed to? I'd try that. If JAL gives you no joy then take it to AA perhaps.
