I vaguely remember it was either a TD (not the Aeroplan one) or a BMO visa card that covers strike actions. (Good luck if it is a lockout ?)
I tried to use my Aeroplan Amex trip interruption insurance once, RSA was a pain to deal with. I was taking the RMS QM2 across the Atlantic, it was arriving 5-6 hrs late late due to a combination of tidal restrictions, headwinds and allegtically mechanical issue (broken gas turbine). I had to rebook my flight.
Cunard refused to give specific details, only willing call it "unforseen circumstances". RSA deny my claim saying "unforseen circumstances" is not in the language of their coverage. I went back and forth for almost a month to finally get Cunard to issue me a letter saying it was due to weather to have my claim pay out.
I wouldn't bet on it unless the T&C specifically stating they will cover labour disputes.
