I spent 90 minutes in TK office in HK today.
Here is what I learn after not able to see any UA or AC domestic award.
1) TK can see the award space and able to confirm the spaces for mainland, however, despite seeing the space X on some subsidiaries, it comes back as unconfirmed.
2) even for simple direct flight like lax ewr or yvr yyz, and with a confirmed X space, the system doesn't not return a mileage price even which may explain why the TK website does not return anything.
3). There are star alliance airport that TK web/app doesn't recognize, I asked her to inform the head office, she does not think the head office will care so don't expect airports that the system does not recognize will be recognized after being reported. (Her system does not see that airport too)
4). It may be possible to construct routing manually despite the website show no availability (when I search segment by segment, TK web returns result.) she can piece them together to give a price (NH domestic).
5) I can designate others to book mileage tickets from my account if I am not in Hk if I have pre signed some documents, and copies of my ID. So at least for me, there is no need to call TK office, as it is said that it would take multiple calls to do a simple task
She will report that problems that we have discovered but there is no timeline if and when the issues will be fixed.
