I just booked TPE-HAN-SYD on CI and VN using 35,000 SkyMiles. There wasn't much availability, but there was one booking available close enough to my desired travel date that I snagged it.

Caveat: you have to use the website. The app simply doesn't work for non-DL revenue or SkyMiles redemptions.
